Review Meeting Held for Cooperative Societies in Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, and Botad

A review meeting titled ‘Prosperity through Cooperation’ was held at the Gujarat State Cooperative Bank in Naranpura, Ahmedabad. The meeting was chaired by Jagdishbhai Vishwakarma, the Minister of Cooperation for the Gujarat government. Various cooperative banks, dairy cooperatives, and Agricultural Produce Market Committees (APMCs) were represented by their officials.

During the meeting, Minister Vishwakarma evaluated the cooperative societies in Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, and Botad districts. He urged the officials to increase membership in cooperative societies based on the population of each village. The minister also emphasized the need for farmers to receive maximum loans and for traders from various APMCs to open accounts in cooperative banks.

Vishwakarma suggested that the promotion of primary agricultural credit societies should be enhanced. He encouraged people to use bank friends or micro ATMs more frequently, and he stressed the importance of direct payments to farmers’ accounts.

Presentations regarding district cooperative societies were made during the meeting. Several cooperative leaders interacted with the minister and raised their queries.

Notable attendees included Ajaybhai Patel, the Chairman of Gujarat State Cooperative Bank Limited, Pradipbhai Vora, the CEO, Ashokbhai Choudhary, the Chairman of the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation, and several other important figures from the cooperative sector.

The meeting aimed to strengthen the cooperative movement in the state, which plays a vital role in the agricultural and economic development of Gujarat. The state government is committed to supporting farmers and improving their access to financial services through cooperative banks and societies.

The cooperative sector in Gujarat has historically been a strong pillar for rural development. It has facilitated better financial support for farmers, ensuring they have the resources needed to grow crops and sustain their livelihoods.

With the increasing challenges faced by farmers, such as climate change and fluctuating market prices, cooperative societies have become essential in providing stability and support. The government’s focus on evaluating and enhancing these societies is a positive step towards achieving sustainable agricultural growth and prosperity for rural communities.

In conclusion, the meeting highlighted the ongoing commitment of the Gujarat government to empower farmers and promote cooperative initiatives. By fostering collaboration among various cooperatives and ensuring better access to financial resources, the state aims to build a more prosperous future for its agricultural sector and rural populations.
