Samsung and Startup India Join Forces to Boost Young Innovators

Samsung, India’s largest consumer electronics brand, has partnered with Startup India to empower young innovators. This collaboration was marked by a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in New Delhi. The aim is to strengthen India’s startup ecosystem through Samsung’s ‘Solve for Tomorrow’ initiative.

The partnership seeks to identify and nurture talent, especially from smaller cities. Samsung’s program provides participants with access to infrastructure, expert guidance, and funding opportunities. ‘At Samsung, we believe innovation thrives when young minds are empowered,’ said SP Chun, Corporate Vice President of Samsung Southwest Asia. He emphasised the importance of supporting young innovators.

Through this MoU, Samsung’s ‘Solve for Tomorrow’ contest will integrate with Startup India’s network of incubation and mentorship. This initiative encourages students to identify real-world problems in their communities and develop scalable solutions. Participants will receive mentorship, workshops, and opportunities to pitch their ideas to experts.

The collaboration aims to strengthen the innovation ecosystem in India. It aligns with government initiatives like Skill India and Digital India. Sanjiv, Joint Secretary of the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, highlighted the significance of this partnership in fostering an inclusive, innovation-driven environment.

Samsung Solve for Tomorrow promotes creativity and social impact among India’s youth. The program encourages problem-solving skills through design thinking and technology. This year, students can submit solutions under four key themes: AI for Safety and Inclusion, Health and Hygiene, Social Change through Sports and Education, and Environmental Sustainability.

The 2025 edition of the contest will grant INR 1 crore to the top four teams. The top 20 teams will receive INR 20 lakh, while the top 40 teams will get INR 8 lakh. This financial support will help young innovators turn their ideas into reality.

Innovators from diverse regions, including Samastipur in Bihar and Guntur in Andhra Pradesh, have already participated. The program has shown remarkable reach, discovering talent from remote areas. This collaboration aims to place innovation at the core of India’s education and entrepreneurship ecosystems.

The partnership will leverage Startup India’s extensive network of incubators and accelerators. Samsung will engage students through hands-on learning and innovation challenges. This approach seeks to scale grassroots innovation and integrate it into the education system.

Samsung Solve for Tomorrow has participants from 68 countries and over 3 million young people globally. The initiative, first launched in the US in 2010, continues to inspire young minds worldwide. The collaboration with Startup India marks a significant step in nurturing the next generation of changemakers.

Samsung’s commitment to supporting young innovators is clear. The company aims to create a future where local talent drives technological and manufacturing advancements in India. The collaboration with Startup India will foster a spirit of entrepreneurship and creativity among the youth, helping them become effective problem solvers.

As the program unfolds, many young innovators will have the chance to shine. This initiative not only empowers students but also contributes to India’s growth story. By nurturing talent from smaller towns, Samsung and Startup India are paving the way for a brighter, more innovative future for India.
