In a shocking incident in Duva village, Tharad, Banaskantha, six people have been arrested in connection with the murder of a man over a love marriage dispute. The case revolves around a young couple, Shravan Dangi and Sukhi Vankar, who recently got married. Their love marriage was not accepted by Sukhi’s family, leading to tragic consequences.
Approximately 20 days ago, Shravan Dangi married Sukhi Vankar, a girl from Pawdasan village. Sukhi’s family did not approve of the marriage. They attempted to persuade her to return home, but she refused. Her family left without her, which led to rising tensions.
The violence erupted when Sukhi’s relatives confronted Shravan’s family. They attacked Shravan’s vehicle on Duhka Duva Road. Using sharp weapons, they assaulted Shravan’s family. Unfortunately, during this assault, Shravan’s father, Prahlad Dangi, was fatally injured. He succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the attack. Three other individuals were severely injured and were rushed to the Dhanera Referral Hospital for treatment.
Following the incident, police registered a case against twelve individuals involved in the attack. Out of these, six suspects were apprehended, while the remaining six are still at large. Authorities have formed three teams to locate and arrest the fugitives. The investigation is ongoing, as police seek to gather more evidence and details about the incident.
This tragic event highlights the severe consequences that can arise from family disputes over love marriages in India. It reflects the societal challenges that young couples often face when their relationships are not accepted by their families. Love marriages are still a sensitive topic in many parts of India, where traditional norms often clash with personal desires.
In a separate development, the Gujarat government is making headlines for creating a new district, Wav-Tharad, effective from January 1, 2025. This decision is part of an administrative reorganization aimed at improving governance and public service delivery in the region. The new district will include eight talukas and is expected to enhance the developmental prospects for the local population.
This new administrative change comes as a result of long-standing demands from the local population for better governance and accessibility. With the formation of the Wav-Tharad district, residents hope for improved infrastructure, job opportunities, and better access to government services. The Chief Minister of Gujarat, Bhupendra Patel, has assured that this change will benefit the people by streamlining administrative processes and making local governance more effective.
As the investigation into the murder case continues, the local community is left to grapple with the aftermath of this tragic event, while also looking forward to the opportunities that the newly announced district may bring.
