Swadeshi Rakhi Special Exhibition in Unjha Encourages Local Artisans

The Swadeshi Rakhi Special Exhibition took place in Unjha on August 2 and 3, 2025. This event was inspired by the Unjha Municipality and aimed to support local women artisans who work from home. The exhibition was inaugurated by Jignaben Patel, the president of the Unjha Municipality. Special guests included Neha Jani, the president of the Rotary Club of Unjha, and Hitesh Patel, founder trustee of RK Foundation Unjha.

The exhibition showcased a variety of products made by local women. Visitors could find designer sarees, dress materials, fancy blouses, imitation jewellery, handmade items, and more. There were also food stalls offering various snacks, including khakhra, a popular local delicacy.

To encourage participation, 34 stalls were provided free of charge for the artisans. This initiative was fully funded by the Unjha Municipality, the Rotary Club, and RK Foundation. Organisers expected over 1,000 visitors to attend the event.

An interesting feature of the exhibition was the ‘My Bag’ campaign. Visitors were invited to bring old clothes, which would be transformed into bags by the women artisans. This not only helped recycle old garments but also provided an additional opportunity for local women to showcase their skills.

The exhibition was not just a marketplace; it was a celebration of local culture and craftsmanship. Artisans had the chance to connect with the community and gain recognition for their hard work. The event aimed to promote the Swadeshi movement, encouraging people to support local products and businesses.

The presence of local leaders and organisations highlighted the importance of community support for small businesses. The Swadeshi Rakhi Special Exhibition was a successful initiative that brought together artisans, community members, and local leaders to celebrate creativity and entrepreneurship in Unjha.

In conclusion, the event illustrated how local initiatives can foster community spirit and economic development. It served as a reminder of the value of supporting local artisans and the importance of preserving traditional crafts in the face of modernisation. By doing so, communities can create sustainable livelihoods while also promoting cultural heritage. The Swadeshi Rakhi exhibition was a step forward in this direction, showcasing the potential of local talent and the power of community engagement.
