Three-Day Mini Vacation Rush in Gujarat

As the 15th of August approaches, many people in Gujarat are planning a mini vacation. This year, the 15th marks Independence Day, followed by Janmashtami on the 16th, and then a Sunday. This creates a perfect three-day weekend for travel. Popular destinations include Dwarka, Somnath, and Mount Abu.

From Ahmedabad to Somnath, train waiting lists have reached 150 passengers. In addition, out of 16 buses from the GSRTC, 13 to Dwarka are fully booked. The situation is similar for Somnath, where 12 out of 14 buses are packed.

Airfare has also surged. Flights from Ahmedabad to Goa and Jaipur now cost as high as ₹18,000. Private cabs have increased their fares too, making travel more expensive than usual.

The demand for travel has pushed many to consider alternative options. Since the GSRTC buses are fully booked, private bus operators have raised their prices to accommodate the rush. The private bus fare from Ahmedabad to Dwarka has increased to about ₹1,600.

The Gujarat tourism sector is preparing for an influx of tourists. With the high demand for buses and trains, there may be additional services added to accommodate travelers. The railway waiting list for trains heading to Somnath is already at 150. For Dwarka, it stands at 63, and Junagadh at 64.

Travelers are also seeking accommodations in popular tourist spots. However, the situation is tough, as many hotels are fully booked. For places like Mount Abu, Udaipur, and Saputara, the cost of rooms has doubled. Even at increased prices, many travelers are finding it hard to secure a stay.

For those flying, the situation is equally challenging. The airfare from Ahmedabad to Mumbai has increased to ₹11,000. Many are planning trips to places like Lonavala and Khandala from Mumbai, causing further strain on the transportation network.

Overall, the upcoming mini vacation is creating a buzz in Gujarat. The government and transport services are gearing up to handle the increased travel demand. However, travelers should be prepared for higher costs and possible wait times. With planning and patience, this mini vacation can still be an enjoyable experience for many. Whether by train, bus, or plane, the excitement of traveling during this festive time is palpable.

In summary, Gujarat is witnessing a surge in travel demand as people look forward to the three-day holiday. With popular destinations fully booked and higher prices across the board, travelers are advised to plan ahead to enjoy their holidays without any hassle.
