A tragic accident occurred near Jhagadia in Bharuch district, claiming the lives of two individuals. The incident took place when an ST bus collided head-on with an Eco car on the road between Jhagadia and Rajpipla. Reports indicate that the ST bus was travelling from Rajpipla towards Bharuch, while the Eco car was making its way from Surat to Rajpipla.
The accident happened near Vaghpura village, where both vehicles crashed into each other. The two deceased individuals have been identified as Shaileshbhai Manilal Patel and Arpit Sharma, both from Surat. They sustained severe injuries from the crash and were pronounced dead at the scene. Additionally, two other passengers, Irfan Shaukatali and Sharifkhan Irfankhan, also from Surat but originally from Uttar Pradesh, were seriously injured. They were quickly taken to a government hospital for treatment.
Local sources have highlighted that the road connecting Jhagadia and Rajpipla, known as the Statue of Unity Road, is in a poor condition. This has forced drivers to sometimes use the wrong side of the road, leading to an increase in accidents. Following this incident, the ongoing problem of traffic accidents in the area has come under scrutiny.
The road from Umalla to Nanasanja Gate, which connects to the Statue of Unity, is particularly bad. Drivers heading towards Ankleshwar and Bharuch have been seen driving on the wrong side due to the road’s condition. Despite the presence of three police stations along the route, there are concerns about why police have not been able to stop vehicles from driving improperly.
Residents of Jhagadia are expressing frustration over the lack of action from local authorities regarding the dangerous driving behaviour witnessed on this broken road. Many believe that the negligence of drivers and the poor road conditions are contributing factors to the rising number of accidents.
This latest accident has sparked outrage among the local population, especially following the unfortunate deaths of the two victims. They demand that immediate measures be taken to improve road safety and prevent future incidents. The families of the deceased are in mourning, grappling with the loss of their loved ones.
The local community is calling for better road maintenance and stricter enforcement of traffic laws to ensure the safety of all road users in the area. This tragic event serves as a reminder of the critical need for safe roadways and responsible driving in Gujarat.
