Late at night, Jagdishbhai Narvatbhai Patel, a 9-year-old boy, was sleeping in his home when he was bitten on the lower finger of his right hand by a snake. His father, Narvatbhai Abhesingbhai Patel, rushed him to the Devgad Baria Civil Hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, Jagdish’s condition worsened, and he was referred to Godhra for further medical care. Sadly, he passed away on the way, near the village of Asaydi.
Following this tragedy, Narvatbhai Patel notified the Devgad Baria police about the incident. The police registered a case as per Section 174 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) regarding accidental deaths and have begun their investigation.
The second incident occurred in the village of Baina. Pareshbhai Mavasinghbhai Rathwa, a 58-year-old man, went to his field around 8:30 AM to plough the land for maize planting. While working, he accidentally stepped on a snake that blended into the soil. The snake bit him on the heel of his right foot. He was immediately taken to the government hospital in Devgad Baria for treatment. However, despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries.
Bipinbhai Gopalbhai Rathwa, Pareshbhai’s nephew, reported the incident to the police. Similar to the previous case, the police have also registered a case under CrPC Section 174 for accidental deaths and are investigating further.
