Tragic Suicides in Surat: Teacher and Mother Take Their Lives

In a shocking turn of events in Surat, two tragic incidents of suicide have left the community in mourning. The first incident involves a 34-year-old woman who, in a heartbreaking act, administered poison to her seven-year-old son before consuming the poison herself. Sadly, the woman died, while her son is currently receiving treatment in a hospital.

The second incident occurred in the Umra area of Surat, where a teacher, Alpesh Solanki, aged 41, ended his life along with his two young sons, ages two and eight. This dual tragedy has sent shockwaves through the local community.

Alpesh Solanki worked at the Merimata School in Dindol and was originally from Chitoda village in Sabarkantha district. He lived in Surat with his family. On the evening of the incident, neighbours grew concerned when they did not hear from him. They broke down the door to his quarters and discovered all three bodies inside, with the children found on the bed and Alpesh hanging from a ceiling fan.

The cause of these suicides is currently unknown. Authorities have not found any suicide notes at the scene. Initial investigations suggest that there may be underlying reasons leading to these tragic decisions. Police have sent the bodies for post-mortem examinations and have begun questioning family members and friends to uncover more about the circumstances that may have led to these events.

In the first case, the mother reportedly had a troubled past. She was previously married in 2020, but her husband died in an accident. After remarrying and having a son, her second marriage also ended in difficulties. Recently, she returned to live with her parents, and on the day of the incident, she took her child to the hospital due to a fever.

However, when evening came, family members became worried when they could not find them. They later discovered the mother and child at a temple, where the mother was found unconscious. They were rushed to a private hospital, but unfortunately, the mother did not survive, while the child continues to receive medical care.

Witnesses have reported that the child told doctors that his mother had given him poison before taking it herself. The mother was later transferred to civil hospital but passed away on Monday.

As for Alpesh Solanki, police are investigating further into his life, including examining his phone and personal belongings to find clues about his state of mind leading up to the incident. This tragic series of events has left a profound impact on both the family and the educational community in Surat.

The police have registered cases of suicide and are continuing their investigations to determine if there are more factors involved. They are also looking into whether there were any suicide notes left behind in the house or elsewhere.

Both incidents highlight the need for awareness and support for mental health issues in the community. As the families involved deal with their loss, it is crucial for society to engage in conversations about mental health and provide support to those in distress.
