In a significant operation, the Patan Local Crime Branch (LCB) arrested twenty individuals involved in gambling activities. This raid took place in the village of Sahesa, following information received during patrols in the Kakoshi police station area. The police acted on the tip-off and conducted the raid, leading to the arrest of the suspects.

During the operation, the police seized cash amounting to ₹61,400, two cars valued at ₹7 lakhs, twenty mobile phones worth ₹1.91 lakhs, and various gambling materials. The total value of the confiscated items is approximately ₹9.52 lakhs.

One of the main suspects, Chamanji Thakor, who owns the premises where the gambling was taking place, was not present during the raid. His arrest is still pending. The arrested individuals come from various regions of Patan, Banaskantha, and Mehsana districts.

All accused have been charged under sections 4 and 5 of the Gambling Act at the Kakoshi police station. The police are currently carrying out further investigations to gather more evidence against the suspects.

The operation is part of a broader initiative by the Patan District Police, led by Superintendent V.K. Nayak, to crack down on illegal gambling and other criminal activities in the area. This effort aims to ensure the safety and security of the community, especially with upcoming local elections.

In a related case, the LCB team also solved a cable theft case in the village of Vaghusar. They apprehended an individual believed to be involved in the theft of cable wires worth ₹35,000. This suggests that the Patan police are not only focusing on gambling but are also tackling various other crimes to maintain law and order in the region.

The Patan LCB has been actively working to prevent such illegal activities and has urged local residents to report any suspicious activities to the authorities. The police have emphasized the importance of community cooperation in their efforts to combat crime.

As the investigation continues, the Patan police encourage anyone with information related to gambling or other unlawful activities to come forward. They assure that all reports will be treated confidentially to protect the identity of informants.

This crackdown on gambling is seen as an essential step in promoting a safer environment for the residents of Patan and surrounding areas. The police’s proactive measures are expected to deter future illegal activities and reassure the public of their commitment to maintaining peace in the community.
