A shocking video has gone viral on social media, showing two young men being tied to a tree and assaulted. The incident took place in Tadhva village, located in the Shehra taluka of Panchmahal district, Gujarat. The video also appears to show young women being attacked, highlighting the seriousness of the situation.
The police were alerted to the video, prompting immediate action from senior officers, including R.V. Asari, the Inspector General of Police for Panchmahal-Godhra, and Himanshu Solanki, the District Superintendent of Police.
Initial investigations revealed that the viral video showed two young men, identified as Rayjibhai alias Raylo Punabhai Nayak and Pintu Bhalabhai Nayak, both residents of Mithapur village. Rayjibhai filed a complaint at the Shehra police station, detailing the events leading to the assault.
According to the complaint, Rayjibhai and his friend had developed romantic relationships with two young women. They had run away from home to work in Mehmedabad, Kheda. Upon learning this, relatives of the young women, including Arjunbhai Gorabhai Nayak from Tadhva village, Ishwarbhai Chhaganbhai Nayak from Daruniya village, and Maheshbhai Devabhai Nayak from Mithapur, along with about ten others, tracked the couple down.
They used an Eco vehicle, registration number GJ-23 BL 3150, to forcibly bring the young couple back to Tadhva village. Once there, the young men were tied to a tree and verbally abused. They were beaten mercilessly with sticks and threatened with death. Throughout the ordeal, the attackers recorded the assault on video, further violating the victims’ rights.
In response to the serious nature of this incident, the Shehra police registered a case and arrested a total of ten suspects involved in the crime within just a few hours. The police also seized the Eco vehicle used in the abduction.
This incident raises alarming questions about safety and the treatment of young couples in relationships, especially in rural areas. It highlights the urgent need for better protection for individuals from such violent acts, often stemming from family or societal pressures.
Local authorities are now urging the community to report any such incidents and to promote understanding and respect for personal relationships. The police are also working to ensure that the victims receive the necessary support and protection following this traumatic experience.
The incident has sparked outrage on social media, with many calling for stricter laws and better enforcement to protect young couples from harassment and violence. As the investigation continues, the community is left to reflect on the broader issues of love, freedom, and justice in society.
