In a significant move to combat drug-related crimes, Gujarat’s Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi will be present in Kutch on July 24, 2025. He will oversee the destruction of a large quantity of narcotics, valued in crores, at the Saurashtra Enviro Project Pvt. Ltd. in the Lakhadiya area of the Bhachau Taluka.
The police have seized a total of 391.625 kilograms of drugs and 8,986 litres of narcotic substances from 28 NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Act cases. The destruction process will be carried out using scientific methods by the state-level high-level drugs disposal committee and local drug disposal committees from three police districts.
This action follows the approval of the court for the destruction of the seized materials. The items to be destroyed include:
– **Cocaine:** 82.616 kg seized by the Gandhidham B Division Police Station, estimated value ₹826,160,000.
– **Hashish:** 105.428 kg seized by the Mandvi Police Station, estimated value ₹44,575,000.
– **Codeine syrup:** 8,986.2 litres seized by the Morbi Taluka Police Station, estimated value ₹1,846,484.
In addition to these, the local drug disposal committees from East and West Kutch will also destroy other seized drugs, including marijuana, cocaine, hashish, and methamphetamine, amounting to 129.368 kg from West Kutch and 74.213 kg from East Kutch.
In total, 391.625 kg and 8,986.2 litres of narcotics will be destroyed. This action underscores the Gujarat government’s commitment to a drug-free state. The event will take place at the incineration plant of Saurashtra Enviro Project Pvt. Ltd., attended by the members of the state-level high-level drugs disposal committee and local committees.
