Residents in 17 wards across Ahmedabad will face water supply disruptions from July 9 to 11. The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has announced this measure due to ongoing repair work on the Shedhi Canal gate. The affected areas include Maninagar, Isanpur, Indrapuri, Amraiwadi, Hatkeshwar, Bapunagar, and Thakkarnagar. The disruptions are mainly in the North, East, and South zones of the city.
The AMC stated that limited water supply from the Raska Water Treatment Plant will particularly impact the East Zone, including Vastral and Ramol-Hathijan. The South Zone will also see disruptions in Vatva and Lambha. Water Committee Chairperson Dilip Bagadiya explained that the repair work has led to a drop in water levels, reducing the gravity-based water flow.
To manage the situation, the AMC plans to divert a limited supply of water from the Kotarpur plant to the affected areas. However, this will not fully compensate for the shortage. Residents should prepare for the evening water supply to be suspended during these days, although there will be a restricted supply in the mornings.
The AMC is working hard to minimise the inconvenience caused to residents. They are adjusting water distribution to ensure that everyone receives some supply. The civic body is committed to keeping the public informed and addressing any concerns related to the water disruption.
During this period, it is essential for residents to store enough water for their daily needs. The AMC is hopeful that the repair work will be completed soon, allowing normal water supply to resume. They have also coordinated with the Irrigation Department, which closed the Shedhi Canal for necessary repairs on June 3, 2025.
Local authorities urge residents to remain patient during this time. Water supply is crucial, and the AMC is taking all necessary steps to ensure that the impact of these repairs is as minimal as possible. Information regarding the water supply will be updated regularly through local media and official channels.
In conclusion, the water supply disruptions in Ahmedabad come as a result of essential maintenance work. The AMC is making efforts to manage the situation and provide residents with the necessary information. It is advised for families to plan accordingly to ensure they have enough water supply during this temporary disruption. Residents are encouraged to stay tuned for updates from the AMC regarding the status of water supply in their areas.
