In Ahmedabad, a 22-year-old woman has reported serious allegations against the manager, staff, and owner of a local spa. She claims they assaulted her repeatedly over two months while she worked there. The woman, a housekeeper from Bopal, filed a complaint with the Vastrapur police after experiencing severe trauma.
The allegations state that Rohit Tiwari, the manager of Kama Thai Spa, assaulted her multiple times between January 10 and March 8, 2025. She claims that he forced her into sexual acts in Room No. 07 of the spa. Under the pretense of offering her a job, Tiwari allegedly coerced her into sexual relations to keep her employment.
The situation escalated when Tiwari supposedly undressed her forcibly upon her refusal. On February 10, another accused, Chintan Pandya, the spa owner, allegedly raped her after luring her under false pretences for a conversation. Despite her protests about not providing massage services, she was reportedly forced into a situation leading to further assault.
The woman also mentioned a third individual, Sawanbhai Purbiya, who threatened her with gang rape when she asked Tiwari to return ₹1.45 lakh she had lent him. This series of events took a significant toll on her mental and physical health. In April, she was admitted to Sanjeevani Hospital in Vastrapur for four days. After her discharge, she returned to her hometown but did not disclose the incidents to hospital staff. It wasn’t until she returned to Ahmedabad in June and confided in friends that she decided to take legal action.
Following her complaint, the Vastrapur police registered a First Information Report (FIR) against all three accused under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The police confirmed that an investigation is currently underway. They are recording statements from witnesses and planning to inspect the spa premises. If available, they will also review CCTV footage from the location.
This case highlights the serious issue of workplace harassment and the challenges faced by victims in coming forward. The ongoing investigation aims to gather more evidence and ensure that justice is served. The police have assured that further steps will be taken based on their findings. Such incidents underscore the need for stronger protections for workers, especially women in vulnerable positions, and the importance of creating a safe work environment.
