In Ahmedabad, a young man was tragically stabbed during a neighbourhood fight. This incident happened in the jurisdiction of Vejalpur police station in the Juhapura area. The fight started over a minor issue involving a paan (betel leaf) spitter. The argument quickly escalated into violence.
Police reported that the victim, 19-year-old Sufiyan Sheikh, was attacked by several neighbours. The confrontation took place late on a Sunday night outside the Sheikh family’s home. Sufiyan’s father, Mohamadsafi Sheikh, had gone out to check on the situation when he saw his cousin, Mohamad Hamza Sheikh, arguing with their neighbours.
The neighbours involved included three sons of Arif Khalifa: Tahir, Tarek, and Ayan. Also involved were Akram Maniyar, Shah Rukh Khalifa, and his sister-in-law Kabbsum, also known as Firdaus. The argument began when Mohamadsafi confronted Akram, who was accused of spitting paan on the steps of their home. This led to a heated exchange between the families.
As the situation grew tense, Sufiyan and his family tried to intervene. However, things took a dangerous turn when Shah Rukh and Firdaus went inside their home and came out with knives. Tahir, Tarek, and Shah Rukh then threatened Sufiyan and his family, saying they would harm them.
In the chaos, Sufiyan was held down by Akram and Ayan while Tahir stabbed him multiple times in the chest and abdomen. He was left bleeding on the ground. His family rushed him to SVP Hospital, but sadly, the doctors pronounced him dead upon arrival.
Following the incident, Vejalpur police registered a case against six people. They arrested Tahir, Tarek, Ayan, Shah Rukh, and Akram. The police are still searching for the sixth suspect, a woman named Tabassum, also known as Firdaus Khalifa. This incident has raised concerns about rising crime rates in the Juhapura area and the involvement of local gangs.
Local residents have expressed worry over the increasing violence. Many believe that the local police need to take stronger action to ensure safety in their neighbourhood. This tragic event serves as a reminder of how quickly disputes can escalate and the dire consequences that can follow. Community leaders are now calling for peace and understanding among neighbours to prevent such violent incidents in the future.
